Pow Wow Cafe Shop on Kingsway in Teignmouth offers the kind of casual, community-driven cafe experience that fits seamlessly into local life. Run largely by volunteers, it’s a spot where friendliness and approachability are front and center. The space feels welcoming without pretense, making it a solid choice for anyone looking to grab reliable, reasonably priced food and drinks in a setting that’s as much about people as it is about coffee.

This cafe shines as a morning and midday stop, particularly for those who appreciate a simple yet flexible breakfast. You can build your own morning plate for just 50p an item, which appeals both to local regulars and visitors who want a bit of control over their meal without a complicated menu. Alongside the full English breakfast components, the homemade soup and a strong latte have plenty of fans, with the warm atmosphere encouraging longer stays whether you’re catching up with friends or settling in with a laptop.

The vibe inside is relaxed and community-oriented, with friendly staff who clearly know many customers by name. This less commercial, volunteer-run approach gives the cafe a grounded, approachable feel — one where people feel comfortable whether they’re popping in with kids (there’s a free soft play area) or looking for a quiet spot to work in between appointments. The decor is simple and unassuming, fitting well with the honest, homey charm of the place.

Visitors who appreciate good quality but low-cost food will find this a dependable option. Locals tend to drop by for morning coffee or a casual lunch, and it’s easy to feel part of the neighbourhood here. The chocolate brownie and freshly made cakes add a sweet touch to afternoon visits, rounding out a menu that emphasizes straightforward, satisfying choices rather than anything overly trendy.

Pow Wow Cafe Shop is best suited for people who value community spirit, a friendly welcome, and food that’s both affordable and homely. Early mornings and weekends are lively times, ideal for breakfast or brunch, while weekday afternoons attract those needing a relaxed workspace with internet access. Whether you’re local to Teignmouth or passing through, it’s the kind of place that encourages a slower pace and genuine connection.

This cafe has everything you could want, the play area for children is key to the relaxed atmosphere and happy parents who can eat and socialise without distraction. The shop has essentials as well as snacks and treats to keep the kids happy. Everything is extremely cheap so you could easily spend hours here socialising whilst the kids burn their energy in the soft play without breaking the bank. The staff become like family and there is a great selection on the menu also catering for vegetarians. A great selection of home baked cakes and most importantly great coffee. A real diamond hidden in a residential area that must be visited, any parent with young children will definitely return. There is also a comfortable sofa area for breastfeeding mum's and the whole place is extremely clean and well looked after.
